The Head of the American Center for Justice (ACJ) Holds the Houthis Responsible for the Deterioration of Abdul-Khaleq Emran’s Health Condition and Calls for the Immediate Release of the Detainees

Following reports of the deterioration of the health condition of journalist Abdul-Khaleq Emran, who was kidnapped in Houthi prisons, along with thousands of abductees and forcibly disappeared, the head of the American Center for Justice (ACJ) Latifa Jamel held the Houthis responsible for the life of journalist Abdul-Khaleq Emran and she called for “the immediate release of Emran and all of his abducted colleagues, and putting an end to all attacks and violations against Yemeni journalists.”

It is worth noting that the Specialized Criminal Court under the control of the Houthis in Sanaa, in April 2020, issued a death sentence against four journalists, including Abdul-Khaleq Emran, in addition to Tawfiq Al-Mansouri, Akram Al-Walidi, and Harith Humid, after they have been forcibly disappeared and subjected to physical and psychological torture since their kidnapping in June 2015 from the center of Sana’a

The head of the center stressed the need for pressure by the international community and organizations on the Houthis to comply with international laws and humanitarian norms and to release the four journalists immediately and unconditionally.
