The American Center for Justice ( ACJ ) condemns Houthi missile attack on School in Marib

The American Center for Justice (ACJ) strongly condemns the Houthi attack on Al-Methaq School in Marib Governorate that took place on Friday 25 September 2020.

According to the monitors of the American Center for Justice (ACJ) in Marib, a ballistic missile was fired by Houthis on Al-Methaq School yard where children and students left the school and gathered to rehearse in order to celebrate the 58th anniversary of the 26 September revolution. The massive attack that rocked Marib caused extensive damage to the school building and adjacent buildings.

The American Center for Justice (ACJ) stated that the systematic attacks of Houthi militia against civilian population and civilian objects including residential neighborhoods, schools and medical facilities across Yemen the latest of which was the missile attack on Al-Methaq School reflects the militia urge to kill civilians.

The American Center for Justice (ACJ) emphasized that these violations to international treaties of the UN, international humanitarian law and war crime law may amount to serious war crimes.

The American Center for Justice (ACJ) expresses deep concern at the ongoing violence against civilians in Marib which puts two million internal displaced Yemenis who fled their areas of origins at risk as Houthis push offensive on Marib to take control of the city.

The American Center for Justice (ACJ) calls on Houthies and other parties to the conflict to immediately cease all acts of violence committed against civilians in Marib, comply with the international resolutions and engage in dialogue to achieve a sustainable political solution to end war in Yemen and implement the outcomes of the National Dialogue.

The American Center for Justice (ACJ) also urges the international community to fulfill its responsibilities and obligations in accordance with Security Council resolutions to stop the bloodshed in Yemen and protect civilians across Yemen in general and Marib in particular, which hosts two million IDPs.
