The American Center for Justice (ACJ) condemns the murder of Palestinian journalist and TV reporter Shireen Abu Aqleh by Israeli forces in Jenin camp this morning, May 11, 2022, and demands accountability and punishment of the perpetrators of this crime, and not allow them to escape punishment.
Latifa Jamel, president of the American Center for Justice (ACJ) said that Shireen Abu Aqleh was “a voice that millions grew up listening to, and she provided live and direct coverage of events in the Palestinian territories for several generations. She was She was a witness to many human rights violations, and a model for women’s struggle and their quest to prove their presence in historical events and critical stages of people’s life.”
Shireen Abu Aqleh, Aljazeera TV reporter, was deliberately shot in the head by a sniper affiliated with Israeli forces while wearing her press vest and helmet as all international conventions and norms criminalize targeting or attacking journalists while they practice their profession.
The American Center for Justice stresses that the Israeli terrorism targeting civilians from different segments must stop, as well as stopping grave human rights violations in the Palestinian territories by the Israeli army and security forces, with clear, continuous and unconditional US support, which the Center calls for stopping as it represents a cover for those crimes and violations.
