Halif Ahmed Halif was the 7th victim from Al-Razwah village in Nehm district of Sana'a governorate that was killed by a mine explosion planted by the Houthi group in this area.
Thousands of lives have been claimed by landmines explosion since the beginning of the war while 80% of the injured sustain permanent disabilities.
Moreover, these buried landmines can remain active for 80- 90 years according to experts, which puts civilians' lives in danger even after peace is established in Yemen.
We call on the Houthi group to stop planting mines and to hand over maps of the mine- affected areas.
The American Center for Justice (ACJ) calls upon the United Nations and the international community, with all its bodies concerned with human rights and peace, to pressure the Houthi group to stop planting mines and to provide technical capabilities to clear mine-affected areas in Yemen, as well as providing medical services and rehabilitation for the victims and their families.
