Michigan – The American Center for Justice (ACJ) has formally reached out to U.S. Congress members, specifically Michigan Representatives Debbie Dingell and Rashida Tlaib, urging swift action to halt Israeli airstrikes on Yemen’s critical infrastructure. The letter highlights the devastating impact these strikes have had on the country’s humanitarian situation, particularly following the destruction of key civilian facilities such as the port of Hodeidah (Al-Salif), Hodeidah airport, and the city's primary power plant—targets of the Israeli strikes on September 29, 2024.

In its correspondence, the ACJ expressed grave concerns over the escalating humanitarian crisis, emphasizing the severe consequences of destroying the power plant, which has plunged the region into widespread power outages during extreme heat. These conditions are drastically reducing access to healthcare, clean water, and essential services for the population.

The ACJ strongly condemned the attacks on civilian infrastructure, characterizing them as blatant violations of international law and fundamental human rights principles. The organization called on the U.S. Congress —particularly Representatives Dingell and Tlaib— to take immediate action by applying diplomatic pressure on Israel to cease further attacks, prevent additional destruction, and ensure adherence to international humanitarian law. The letter also urged the international community to respond swiftly to prevent further escalation of the crisis.
