Today, on World Teachers’ Day, we recognize the vital role teachers play in shaping the minds and futures of our children. They don’t just teach—they mold the next generation.

But in places like Yemen, especially in areas controlled by the Houthis, teachers face overwhelming obstacles. Many have gone years without pay, been threatened, and even forced to spread extremist ideologies. Tragically, some teachers have been detained and killed for simply doing their jobs, leaving a lasting scar on their communities and further compromising Yemen’s future.

On this day, we urge the international community to stand up for the rights of teachers in Yemen. It’s essential to ensure their safety, dignity, and fair wages if we want to protect the future of education in conflict zones.

As we honor teachers everywhere, let’s also stand with those who are oppressed, detained, or killed in conflict. We must work together to restore their rightful place as educators and beacons of hope for generations to come.
