Michigan -The American Center for Justice (ACJ) is deeply concerned by recent efforts to falsely accuse U.S. Representative Rashida Tlaib of antisemitism following her defense of pro-Palestinian activists involved in peaceful protests at the University of Michigan. These accusations, notably from Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel’s office, represent a troubling attempt to suppress political dissent and target Rep. Tlaib based on her Palestinian heritage and political views.

Associating Rep. Tlaib’s defense with antisemitism is not only defamatory but also distorts her advocacy for human rights and justice. The insinuation that her criticism of Attorney General Nessel’s actions was motivated by religious bias is a harmful misrepresentation. This targeting of Rep. Tlaib reflects broader issues of bias and racism.

It is crucial to clarify that Rep. Tlaib’s statements did not reference Nessel’s religion but raised concerns about potential biases in the application of justice.
