Michigan - The American Center for Justice (ACJ) said that it was concerned about the judicial authorities in Marib Governorate summoning journalist Saif Al-Hadhri, head of Al-Shumu’ Foundation and Akhbar Al-Youm newspaper, to appear before the Criminal Prosecution as a result of a complaint filed by a number of judges in Marib before the Specialized Criminal Prosecution on the grounds of incitement against judges.

The ACJ notes that summoning journalists and activists before the Specialized Criminal Court, which specializes in hearing cases of terrorism, abduction, and serious cases, threatened journalistic work and represents a dangerous escalation by the judicial authorities against freedom of opinion and expression.

The American Center for Justice (ACJ) calls on the judicial authorities in Marib Governorate to stop prosecuting journalists and activists, stop the campaign of incitement against them, and ensure freedom of opinion and expression and their safety. The Center also stressed at the same time that any violation by journalists of legal texts requires judicial authorities to take the usual and recognized legal procedures.
