Michigan - The American Center for Justice (ACJ) calls on President Joe Biden and the US administration to join and respond to the calls of most countries for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, following the vote of 120 countries out of 193 last Friday, on a draft resolution submitted by Jordan calling for a ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinians. This draft received objection from the USA, Israel and 12 other countries.

The resolution, which was approved by a majority of countries, included a call on both sides for an “immediate, permanent and sustainable humanitarian truce leading to the cessation of hostilities,” as well as “immediate, full, sustained, safe and unhindered access to humanitarian aid,” and asked Israel to cancel its order to evacuate northern Gaza.

The influence of the United States in pressuring Israel to accept a ceasefire cannot be denied, while emphasizing that the United States’ current position is a green light for Israel to continue the genocide against civilians in Gaza.

According to the figures obtained by the ACJ, as of the date of preparing this statement, 8,209 Palestinians have been killed, including 3,343 children, 1,886 women, and 35 journalists, whereas over 21,123,000 people were injured. 43,200 housing units have been completely destroyed and 131,300 partially destroyed. About 1,433,00 people, most of whom are children and women, are at risk of hunger. About 10 bakeries were completely destroyed, in addition to cutting off water, electricity, and the Internet, which, if these violations continue, will lead to an unexpected humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip.

The American Center for Justice (ACJ) calls upon President Biden and the American administration to review their position on the war crimes and genocide being committed in Gaza, to pressure Israel to stop its attacks, and to support the international trend aimed at a humanitarian ceasefire and opening border crossings for the passage of humanitarian aid as a prelude to concluding a long-term truce between the Palestinians and Israel.
