INTRODUCTION

Hajjah governorate is located (127) kilometers northwest of Sana’a, Yemen’s capital. It is linked to the Sa’ada governorate and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the north, Amran governorate to the east, Al Mahwit and Hodeidah governorates to the south, and the Red Sea and part of Al-Hodeida governorate (8227 km2) to the west. It has a population of over (2,000,000) million, which constitutes (7.5%) of the total population of the Republic of Yemen. It ranks fifth among the governorates of the Republic in terms of population. It has (31) districts and the most important cities of Hajjah are the city of Hajjah, the center of the governorate, Harad, Abs, and Al-Mahabishah. Agriculture, grazing, and fishing are the main activities of the population, as the governorate produces (6.8%) of the total production of crops in the Republic of Yemen. The most important crops there are fruits, vegetables, and grains. Beekeeping and fishing prevail in its coastal areas. Hajjah governorate is adjacent to the Saudi border, so Harad port is considered the most significant land port to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. There are some minerals in Hajjah governorate lands, the most important of which are gold, copper, nickel, cobalt, marble, feldspar, quartz, and zinc.
