American Center for Justice (ACJ) Expresses its Sorrow over the Death of an Employee at the USA Embassy and Demands an Investigation into Circumstances

The American Center for Justice (ACJ) expresses its deep sorrow for the death of Abdulhameed Al-Ajami, a former employee at the USA Embassy in Sana’a. ACJ also demands a transparent investigation by impartial bodies to determine the cause of death, in addition to complying with the family request for an autopsy and investigating the circumstances of the death.

Al-Ajami died on Tuesday, 24 May 2022 after he had been arbitrarily detained for 8 months in a Houthi prison where he had been subjected to serious violations.

According to various sources, Al-Ajami had already died in the middle of last month, 10 days before the Houthi group informed his family, noting that the family refused to receive his body and demanded an autopsy.

These various sources expressed their concerns that Al-Ajami might have been exposed to torture and denied medicines since his arbitrary detention in October 2021.
