American Center for Justice (ACJ) Condemns the Trial Procedures of Journalist Hala Badawi

American Center for Justice (ACJ) condemns the trial procedures of journalist Hala Fouad Badawi by the military authorities in Hadramout and the previous detention procedures which are considered a violation of human rights and violation of freedom of opinion and expression guaranteed in international covenants and treaties. ACJ also calls for the release of Badawi and the immediate dropping of the charges against her.

Journalist Badawi was arrested on December 30, 2021, after her house had been stormed, her family had been intimidated and their phones had been confiscated.
She was jailed in the Military Intelligence prison. A week later, she was transferred to the central prison of the governorate. It is worth mentioning that the military authorities allowed her family members to visit her only once ever since.
