American Center for Justice (ACJ) condemns the fact that hundreds of Yemeni expatriates have been subjected to denial of access to Yemen for two weeks in a row. facing a great suffering as have used their four – wheel – drive vehicles to travel to Yemen and that this type of vehicles are not authorized to leave Yemen based on a Yemeni – Saudi directives.
The Centre considers that the actions taken by the Yemeni authorities and the Arab Coalition to prevent travellers, together with their women and children from entering their country are unjustified and a clear violation of the laws that have guaranteed them freedom of movement, travel and return home. In addition, what has happened is a humanitarian crisis, adding to the list of crises faced by Yemeni citizens since the outbreak of the war six years ago.
The Centre demands that the Government of Yemen and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia quickly allow the stuck to leave and resolve this problem, which has caused the suffering of many Yemeni families coming from Saudi territory to spend the Holy Month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr in Yemen, ensuring that these actions do not recur as they don’t pose any danger to Yemen or Saudi Arabia by the fact that the expatriates are resident in Saudi Arabia and will return in the same vehicles they used in the first place.
