The American Center for Justice (ACJ) reviewed the statement of the family of the kidnapped journalist by the Houthi group, Tawfiq Al-Mansouri, which stated that his health is in grave danger due to its deterioration in the past days whereas his kidnappers refused to transfer him to the hospital.
Al-Mansouri’s health deteriorated and he showed symptoms of fatal chronic diseases due to the physical and psychological torture he was subjected to along with his colleagues, as well as depriving them of proper nutrition, health care and exposure to the sun.
The American Center for Justice (ACJ) expresses its deep concern over the health and life of the kidnapped journalist Al-Mansouri and his fellow journalists, and sees in the systematic violations against them slow and deliberate killings committed by the Houthi group, which has previously caused the deaths of its abductees by torture and denial of health care.
The Center calls on the international community, its bodies and states, to intervene and use all means of pressure to stop these violations, save the lives of journalist Al-Mansouri and his colleagues, release them, provide them with urgent health care, and take sufficient measures to ensure that their kidnappers do not go unpunished.
(ACJ) appeals to the International Federation, the Committee to Protect Journalists and the Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of the right to freedom of opinion and expression, to pay adequate attention to the suffering of Yemeni journalists kidnapped by the Houthi group, and to provide urgent assistance in order to end this suffering as soon as possible.
